Getting surprised was an understatement when I saw a street performer at Vienna’s train station holding a harp. I’ve seen Youtube videos, yes, of others performing in Barcelona and other cities – in Vienna, you’d usually see those with violins, guitars and at one time a piano – in collaboration with the the city’ s Haus der Musik. So there, I listened for some minutes and was in awe, she definitely knows how to play. I would have stayed longer had I not been scheduled to go somewhere. I gave her my dues (for listening that is) and left. I was still amazed at the music she made and would have loved listening again, but I haven’t seen her around the city yet.
Vienna, christened as the City of Music, boasts itself as the cradle of classical hymns and where many composers and musicians were born and where their talents were honed and flourished. Today, it is still a thriving music legacy that can be experienced not only at Opera houses, theatre performances but at its very streets.

I haven’t yet seen up close and personal someone playing HARP…I’m also a stranger to the music it produces unless I’ll search youtube videos. If I’m the one who witnessed, i bet it feels like I’m in heaven:)

Vienna sounds like a wonderful place to me! I hope I can step foot on that country someday!
A harp reminds me of David in the Bible. He plays one very well!
Thanks for linking this to BPC! Doing my late hops here!
I would’ve been amazed to see a harpist myself. it seems very heavy instrument to haul around. I love hearing the music, though.
