Textured – Flowers in a Vase
Vintage. There’s something in them that evokes a feeling of nostalgia in all of us. There’s some thoughts of what could have been or what was it like back in the old days?
This is perhaps why Hipstamatic, Instagram and other phone apps that allow users to choose a filter for their somewhat less interesting photos became a huge hit. The effects boost a photo’s appearance, aesthetically – each of them making the photo pop and look really pleasing. That’s photography in a fast and fun way! And in a click or two, you can easily share a photo to a network of friends. What’s not to love?
My personal favorite would be Instagram’s Rise, Earlybird and Hefe – in that order. Most of my Instagram photos are filtered with any of these three. See for yourself! So this photo has actually been textured. I used a paper image and put it on top of the flower photo and set the opacity a little lower. That gave the edges a bit of vignette and an old appearance overall. Though I haven’t tried having textured photos printed, I think it would be a really cool piece of art. The next time you find yourself with some free time on your hands, try to learn the art of texturing. It’s fun and you’ll certainly be able to create new and exciting images.
